Great Game, Easy to Learn, Kid Friendly
I previously owned the original Castle Panic game and purchased the big box to have the expansions. Castle Panic is a quick co-operative game where you need to defend your castle from monsters attempting to siege. You have a hand of cards in which you use to damage the attackers before they can breach walls. The game concept is fun and extremely kid friendly, but not losing any ground for adults. I love playing this game a parties due to number of players at one time. The second edition has far better art than the original. Highly recommend getting the 2nd edition. A single round can take about 40 minutes to play through on average but generally depends on skill level playing through a board game, and your desire to search for the best move(s) available to you. It is co-operative play so adults can support kids trying to learn how to play board games.

Best value!
I originally purchased the base game but quickly realized that I wanted the expansions. This is easily the best bang for your buck if you’re wanting even a single expansion. In terms of the game it’s absolutely fun. Yes, the play takes quite a bit of time but having the option to choose which expansion to play and to mix and match gives you the ability to keep things interesting. The pieces are sturdy and well made, I imagine it will last for quite some time.

Great for the whole family
Got this as a Christmas present. It was too difficult to pass up this bundle with updated sets versus buying them separately. Everything fits well in this box (including sleeved cards) so no need to buy additional case.Haven’t gotten around to playing all the expansions so I’ll just rate the base game. As a side note, the base game has been around for years! It is a great game to jump into without much preparation. We also own gloomhaven and the worst thing about that game is the amount of time that it takes to set up every time you want to play. This game can easily be taken to a group and quickly set up for a quick game night. We have a young daughter that is not able to read yet and have had a lot of success involving her in this game. She even gets to practice basic math trying to figure out how many cards to draw! The fact that it’s co-op means we can explain any rules that require reading without negatively impacting gameplay. My only recommendation is to slightly reduce the number of tiles since the game can run a little long for a small child. Also, we like to say that the monsters are “Going to jail” every time their HP goes down (matching ‘my first castle panic’).My only con with this game is the simplicity of the base game. Once you have established your standard protocol of how to react to certain situations the game can almost run autonomously. This is good for kids, but not for serious gamers. However, the expansions included increase complexity, so I wouldn’t consider that a deterrent if you’re getting the big box.Overall great game for families and casual play, especially for those that want to start the transition from mainstream to more Indy games.

Great game but confusing packaging
I would only get this if you know all the rules of castle panic and are experienced with the expansions. If you are coming in cold it can be confusing given not knowing which expansions parts go where as they are all included in this box. I would recommend buying the stand alone expansions first even though it costs more so you know what goes where.

Family favorite!
We bought this for my sister-in-law as a housewarming gift because she loves the original game! Even those in the family who don’t usually play games love this one.

Edited review
Edit: After having the Big Box for some time I feel I should comment about the expansions. I really like CP base game but I feel the expansions just complicate a simple game unnecessarily to the point I lost my enjoyment. Playing with my young kids became a bit difficult. We were constantly referring back to the rulebook.. so in the end I like the game,, I don’t like the extra content. I’m culling the Big Box from the collection..I bought the big box bc I’m new to the game and figured I might as well pay up and get all the expansions together. One star off as a big selling point for me was having everything organized neatly. Unfortunately there is really no way to keep the the expansions separated from one another. Also you must keep the box stored horizontally, otherwise everything falls out of place. Great idea just poorly executed.
