Great quality cards with great graphics and fun to play with the family. Came well packed and practical for storage.

Trick-taking game (like whist, bridge, black mariah) with pretty artwork. A player leads with, say, a pair of threes. The next player must put down a pair of threes or higher, and so on until nobody can go. The highest pair then gets to start the next sequence. You can start with a single, pair etc, or runs of 3-5. Not exactly complicated but a step up from Uno.The nuances make this game awkward, in my opinion. You can lay a ‘more powerful three’ onto a three. More powerful being the number of jewels (see pics). Think of them being decimal places. There are knights (wild cards), and revives (start over). It’s not intuitive and we’re reaching for the rulebook sometimes.A few things knock this beautiful looking game to a 3.The knights don’t indicate what clan they are (they’re 12.1, effectively, but only says in the rules). The card art on the bottom has the text (dragon family) one orientation and the number the other (see pic). The jewel counting is small and fiddly. You start the game with a cumbersome 13 card hand. Once you win one trick, the advantage of starting a round is so powerful it can normally win you the game.We find ourselves returning to rummy, and £15 for this double-deck of cards is steep. Still, it’s not bad.For family card games, also consider monopoly deal, exploding kits, smart cards (which you can play rummy), regular playing cards, and Love Letters.

Rule book is overly complicated for what turned out to be a fun game
This is another awesome game from the makes of Pirate King. We love everything about this game – except how difficult it was to learn and follow. Even our friends, who are avid card game players, had a VERY difficult time following the instruction manual, so we watched the recommended tutorial video instead. Don’t bother with the manual, just go watch the video, it is MUCH more helpful.Once you learn how to play it, it’s a fun, fast paced, enjoyable game that really fills that spot of dragon collecting, amazing art, and enjoyable game play. Definitely a hit in our family!
