This game is a simple, easy to learn, tile placer/ route builder. Each turn you will play a card, which will determine what tile or tiles you have to choose from on the central board. You place those tiles, and then you can move down a noble as far as your tiles are connected. The further you move a noble down, the more points he will get you. You also have 2 mission cards you’re trying to complete for bonus points. If you play with the two expansions, which I suggest you do, you’re also trying to move the boar off your board (or suffer negative points) and you get bonus points for placing tiles in certain squares.Without the expansions this game is way too simple. That’s not always a problem, but here the decisions just aren’t that interesting without the expansions. Once you add in the expansions, the game is decent. At that point you’re deciding between moving down your nobles and preventing massive negative points from the boar. And, you’re trying to make paths that avoid the negative spaces on the reward board while simultaneously taking advantage of the positive spaces.This really feels like a simple route builder to me. The game primarily consists of figuring out the best way to move down your nobles. If you like route builders, and you’re looking for something easy, you might give this a chance. It was obvious from the first play that if you built your board correctly, and were smart about how you played your nobles, it would really be advantageous.Unfortunately for me, I’m not a big fan of route/network builders. And, there’s not much else here to excite. Maybe there are multiple paths to victory that could be explored, but it doesn’t seem worth it.The components were excellent. Heavy cardboard tiles and boards. Specially cut meeples. Decent card stock. Well written rule book. Good box insert.
